Dr Benson has an interest in Diabetes since 1993 when he worked in the Diabetes outpatient clinic at Flinders Medical Centre for 6 months one morning per week. He has been a member of the Diabetes special interest group for GP’s since 2014 and up until Covid the group were having annual meetings in Sydney to discuss the latest developments in Diabetes management.
Dr Benson has given a number of talks on Diabetes over the years to General Practitioners.
Dr Benson has worked as a GP in Victor Harbor since 1988.

Dr Tien Lee is a private endocrinologist who practices in Adelaide and Tonsley, and frequently visits Yankalilla, Naracoorte, Murray Bridge and Kangaroo Island. He is a general endocrinologist with a strong interest in diabetes and weight loss. He is an engineer at heart, with two previous degrees in engineering from Cornell University and Northwestern University in USA and worked for a Fortune 500 company as a senior engineer before becoming a doctor to dedicate his time to directly help people. He has authored US patents for his company as an engineer, and has also published papers in engineering and as well as in medical journals such as Stroke, International Journal of Stroke, Critical Care Medicine and Cardiovascular Diabetology. He completed his PhD on Stress Hyperglycaemia with scholarships from the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and the Royal Australasian College of Physician (RACP) Kincaid-Smith.

Virginia joined the Medical HQ team in 2007. Virginia has worked in general practice since 1981 and with the Medical HQ Group since 2007. She completed her Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner in 2014 through Flinders University.
Her special interests include Diabetes and Chronic Disease, Aged Care, and all aspects of General Practice.

Dr Anthony Zimmermann is the Head of Diabetes and Endocrine Services, North Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN). He has a Senior Clinical Lecturer title in the Department of Medicine, the University of Adelaide. He is the Chair and Clinical Lead NSQHS Standard 6: Clinical Handover, NALHN and Chair of the General Clinical Training Committee at the Lyell McEwin Hospital. He is an enthusiastic mentor for undergraduate and postgraduate medical trainees.

The Novo Nordisk Meeting Secretariat will work with venues and suppliers to ensure they have current COVID-19 safety procedures in place as per the state and federal recommendations, additional information is available here.
A number of measures have been put in place as part for government guidelines and restrictions as well as in line for COVID safety practices. Further information will be outlined in your registration confirmation, however, please do not hesitate to contact the Meeting Secretariat if you have any questions. Hand sanitiser and face masks will be available for attendees whilst a maximum of five attendees per table will be allowed.
